Rode Heath - Painting Day

Rode Heath where we are currently moored, used to be two settlements.  The other was called Thurlwood.

Many of the original inhabitants of Thurlwood were Canal Boat families and some of the older houses such as those in Faram's Road, had stables for the horses which towed the boats.

Through housing development Rode Heath and Thurlwood are now effectively joined and known just as Rode Heath.

There is a pub and a post office inside a pretty comprehensive village shop. Other than that, nothing much else. You can get a bus into Kidsgrove or further afield.

Still no post in Kidsgrove post office (I rang to check) so decided to get some painting done ready for the FAB Festival in June.

had some lanterns to paint for The Rosette Boat and some fridge magnets to do for us.

I dug out the blanks that I had painted previously, ready for roses to be applied. I do them in layers over a couple of days to give the paint time to dry.
The white marks you can see are chalk, where I have drawn a rough template. These pictures above are of the first layer of colour.

Above shows the second layer of paint applied with some of the edging done too.

Have done each one slightly different apart from the two green oblongs, which looked too much like side hatches to me so had to do them the same :0).

Tune in tomorrow so see the next exciting layer of paint :0).
