08/04/12 Leighton Lock 27 - Bridge 74, Milton Keynes
Total distance is 17 miles, with 5 locks (not counting Leighton Lock No 27).
Woke up to the engine running and the boat moving. Buster barking, whinging and stamping all over me to get me out of bed!
We went and sat at the lock to wait for someone to come through but after 45 minutes it was all quiet, so we had to turn the lock. Sods law, as soon as we were just about to leave the lock another boat appeared. Most frustrating.
Better luck at Soulbury 3 Locks.
As we arrived there was a 30 footer 'Arun' on its way in so we had someone to share with on the flight. We passed some very shiny boats in the flight heading South, also lock sharing and doing their best not to make eye contact with us 'unTcutted types'.
At stoke Hammond lock we stopped and I made a quick cuppa and we let the 30 footer go through with the hire boat that was just about to single lock.
By the time the kettle had boiled another 60 footer turned up so we shared with them.
Near bridge 98 we saw another nesting swan, about the third we had seen this morning. Daddy swan had the right hump with a couple of yardie geese that were getting a bit to close to the nest than he was happy with.
Yog is showing a lot of Daddy swans qualities today as he is getting increasingly hacked off with all the moored boats making him slow down, he's only been shouted at once today do far lol. But the day sadly is still young lol.
Ritchie is all excited we are getting closer to where he is moored. I am sure it's Buster he misses and not us, but he pretends to miss us too so that's ok :0)
We managed to get nearly half way through Milton Keynes before we had to stop due to lack of time and bad weather.
We pulled up and sat on the mud, near to a bridge so Ritchie could get to us.
He would need to walk the plank to get onto the boat tonight. But by the morning we would be floating again quite happily as it was going to hammer down much needed rain tonight.

Didnt move as its Pouring with rain today so I thought I would start working on putting some stuff on Ebay. Have used Turbolister before so decided to download that to make life a bit easier.
LOL thats a laugh, took me all day to download the damn thing. The highlight of today was watching a fellow boater having to pull into the bank in high winds to help his Mrs look for their Jack Russell that had just disappeared into the woods next to us and was refusing to come out. Followed by watching the pirouette that he then managed to do whilst trying to pull back out onto the river after retreiving said dog.
